Polycarbonate is an amorphic, thermoplastic, which is charactreized by high levels of mechanical, optical, electrical and thermal properties with high mechanical strength and rigidity as well as good creep qualities. The material is, by virtue of its amorphic molecular structure, translucent and transparent. Particular features are the excellent impact resistance over a large range of temperatures which remain constant even at low temperatures.

PolyCarbonate Thermoplastic |
| Item Code: PC
Introduction
Polycarbonate (PC) is a virtually unbreakable thermoplastic belonging to the group of engineering plastics. Through its high impact resistance (over 200 times for equivalent thickness of glass and 30 times to that of Acrylic), polycarbonate plastic provides greater safety and comfort for applications where reliability and high performance are essential. Its special properties include its high temperature range for sustained use (from -50 to +120°C) performs thermally stable, and the fact that polycarbonate is the plastic with the highest impact strength which neither fractures nor splinters. Combining strength, impact resistance and very high light transmission (up to 90%), solid polycarbonate sheet is one of the most versatile glazing materials available. Solid polycarbonate is approximately half the weight of plate glass.
Due to its properties, polycarbonate is offered for the construction of roof and wall glazing. Additional areas of specialization include guards for machinery, lines and equipment.
Advantages for new forms of Construction
The increasing design requirements of architects and the growing cost pressure to which the processors are subjected demand the constant development of new products. Innovative solutions are required which conform to building codes, resist weathering over the long term, satisfy architectural criteria and can be easily, rapidly and economically processed. Industrial buildings or sport and leisure facilities in particular require rooms flooded with light. In addition to their own weight, filigree and transparent roofs for playing areas and stands must be capable of bearing wind, suction and snow loads in all types of weather while being as resistant as possible to soiling and offering optimal protection. Transparent polycarbonate sheets, whether solid or hollow (multi-wall/ multi-cell), offer natural daylight –energy efficient and are extremely light and UV resistant. These are key properties for their use as strip windows in the roof and walls of industrial buildings. Multi-wall sheets are particularly suitable for roofing as their hollow structure possesses especially good insulating. Modular polycarbonate panels with interlocking connection are used in applications including carports, porticos, balcony roofs and conservatories. Modular panels are extremely resistant to bending and are thus especially suitable for glazing large areas making 100% water leak-proof. The weight of such an application is only a fraction of that of a glass equivalent. As polycarbonate neither fractures nor splinters, there is no danger of falling shards, even in extreme cases. This is just as advantageous for industrial buildings as it is for applications such as greenhouses. Polycarbonate is a practical alternative to solid glass with uses in the field of pitched glazing includes walkway covers, entrance canopies, green house roofs, lean-to roofs, stadium roofs and pyramidal rooflights.
Long-life polycarbonate has a high performance UV absorption layer co-extruded on both surfaces which prevents damaging UV radiation from penetrating the sheet. UV protection means longer life preventing yellowing and loss of strength. It cuts out 98% of harmful UV radiation protecting those working or playing beneath it.

SUNPAL Multiwall Polycarbonate Standing-Seam Architectural System |
| Overview & Description SUNPAL is a 100% recyclable polycarbonate multi-wall panel system. SUNPAL blocks UV radiation while allowing uniform natural daylight dispersion to penetrate, reducing the need for artificial lighting and reducing fading of interiors. SUNPAL achieves low U-value ratings, indicating a higher resistance to conducting and (depending on shading coefficient) radiant heat flow, providing thermal insulation, thereby reducing cooling energy requirement and costs. SUNPAL system is light weight & can withstand high loads. Product has varying degrees of light transmission depending on sheet thickness and color. SUNPAL Panels can used in a wide range of vertical (wall) or horizontal (roof) applications, including sport facilities, pool covers, walkways, skylight, atrium, patio roofing etc. Strengths of SUNPAL SUNPAL Multiwall Polycarbonate Standing Seam Architectural System consists of modular panels with snap-on connecting profiles (battens) made of polycarbonate or aluminium. The use of stainless steel fasteners (cleats/ retention clips) allows and controls thermal expansion and eliminates the need for penetrations through the sheet; hence the concealed fasteners make the structure 100% watertight. SUNPAL Architectural System is considered as temporary structure due to its fixing technique with its detachable modular orientation, which can be dismantled easily and used at some other site in different geometry. SUNPAL has an added advantage that there is no penetration of any fastener through the panel and thus no EPDM rubber gaskets, sealants or silicone joints are required which demands continual maintenance & constant vigil eye. System Elements of SUNPAL SUNPAL is extruded cellular translucent polycarbonate interlocking standing-seam panel system for roof & wall paneling, manufactured conforming to the specified requirements. System is manufactured from translucent polycarbonate panels designed for architectural applications. Panel modular width is of 600mm for 8 & 10mm whereas 1000mm for 18 & 20 mm thickness’ to ensure best performance for wind uplift, vibration, oil canning and visual appearance. Panel is extruded in one single formable length. The panels are manufactured with up-stands which are integral to the unit and protruded 90 degrees to the panel face (standing seam dry glazed concept). The extruded panel includes integral tight multi-cell core. The panel's exterior skins are interconnected and spaced apart by structural core supporting ribs, perpendicular to the skins and diamond cuts (reinforced structure) for resistance to buckling, at a spacing not to exceed 4 mm (0.16 inches) (truss-like construction). Extruded U-profile snap-on battens (PC joiner/ connector) in same color as panel, fixed over the up-stands making them as interlocking in parallel arrangement and water leak-proof. T-Fasteners for side-ways control & T-Lock Fasteners in SS-304 (patented) controls the movement of polycarbonate panels for lateral movement rose by thermal expansion in concealed orientation. System panels consisting of a polycarbonate resin with a permanent, co-extruded, ultra-violet protective layer; this layer is co-extruded during the original extrusion of the panel and a permanent part of the exterior and interior layers, i.e., both sides UV (2 UV) coating. Sealing strip, end strip and additional fixing profiles are aluminum (6063-T5 grade) mill finish. Acrylic end caps molded in clear transparent restricts any foreign particles into the polycarbonate joiner profiles at both the ends. Cold forged hex-cap self drilling/ tapping screws with non-corrosive plating for an ease of fixing the panels on to the metal frame for firm grip. |
