Nylon
6
Nylon 6 also known as Polyamide, is characterized by a combination of high
strength, toughness and abrasion resistance and is ranked as an Engineering
Plastic. This is because of its unique balance of mechanical, thermal,
frictional and chemical properties. Nylon behaves in a predictable,
reproducible manner under load and in known environments. Engineers and
designers are looking to nylon as a substitute for design material such as
phosphor bronze, gunmetal, cast iron, copper, aluminium and the entire
family of steels.
Nylon is well accepted for several engineering applications. It is tough
and hard, with good mechanical properties, high resistance to abrasion and
impact and low friction properties.

Nylon
66
Nylon 66 material bears higher mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness,
toughness, heat and excellent wear resistance than Nylon "6".
Nylon 66 has the highest melting point & it is the strongest and the
most rigid of all unmodified nylons. It also has good sliding properties;
better creep resistance but its impact strength and mechanical damping
ability are reduced.
This product also has outstanding resistance to alkalies and organic
materials, as well as good electrical insulating characteristics.
Modified & specialty grades are offered for defined industrial
applications.

Cast
Nylon 6 (Polyamide - Nylon 6 )
Cast Nylon 6 (Polyamide - Nylon 6 ) is a high molecular thermoplastic
material, which is produced by the active anionic polymerization of lactams.
In the pressure less casting process the monomerous meltist poured into
moulds and controlled by chemical reaction, is polymerized directly into
semi-finished products or shaped cast pieces. Big sized sheets, rods &
rings can be produced versus the extrusion process. The monomer casting
process constitutes a considerable improvement in casting technology as
compared to the normal extruded or injection molding method and it is
particularly significant in terms of materials performance. In addition to
this the properties and characteristics are accentuated by means of
modification, special settings and additives.
Cast Nylon type 6 possesses very high molecular weight & crystallinity
percentage. As a result, it has high tensile & compressive strength,
modulus of elasticity, hardness; wear resistance, heat deflection
temperature, resistance to solvents, excellent dimensional stability, low
water absorption and low creep properties.

Polyacetal
(Polyoxymethylene - POM)
Polyacetal (Polyoxymethylene - POM) is a widely used crystalline
engineering thermoplastic popularly known as Delrin® which is a
homopolymer Polyacetal which exhibits slightly different characteristics in
copolymer grades. Polyacetal is characterized as having an excellent
combination of physical properties that makes it suitable for numerous
industrial applications.
Polyacetal has the following characteristics:
- Outstanding wear resistance
- Low coefficient of friction
- Outstanding chemical resistance
- Excellent mechanical properties (i.e. strength & stiffness)
- Good temperature resistance
|
Polyacetal is used in many static &
dynamic industrial applications replacing materials like; steel brass,
bronze, copper and aluminium. Polyacetal have improved part life because of;
better wear, more chemical and corrosion resistance. These materials reduce
factory noise and will reduce or eliminate the need for lubricants.
Polyacetal can be used in applications such as; Gears, Bushings, Bearings,
Rollers, Timing Screws, manifolds, Valves and Valve Bodies, Washers, Wear
Pads, and many industrial machine parts.

lengths.
Polypropylene
(PP)
Polypropylene (PP) is light, strong, having resistance to chemicals and
with a low friction surface, all of which make it ideal as a replacement for
wood or metal which are the materials traditionally used. PP is a high
corrosion resistant material, which exhibits excellent tensile strength and
stiffness at elevated temperatures.
Homopolymer Polypropylene is harder, possesses excellent resistance to
organic solvents and degreasing agent as well as electrolytic attack.
Compared to low or high-density polyethylene, it has lower impact strength
but superior working temperature and tensile strength.
Copolymer Polypropylene is harder than HDPE and likely to show good
properties in lower temperatures. Copolymers have better impact strength,
are good at lower temperatures than homopolymer & exhibit slight fall in
other properties. Copolymer sheets are suitable for vacuum/ thermo-forming
and mechanical fabrications.

HDPE
HDPE High Density Polyethylene is a polyolefin, which shows good low
temperature impact resistance & excellent chemical resistance. It has
lower stiffness compared to Polypropylene and does not show absorb moisture.
Used in different applications includes: chemical, food processing, pipe
and pipefittings for water transportation, card-cans, UV protected panels,
etc. A good market for HDPE sheet is for thermoformable products.

Cast
Polyurethanes
Cast Polyurethanes are cost effective and dependable elastomers that
combine the performance advantages of engineering plastics, metals and
ceramics along with the resiliency and flexibility of rubber. These are
internationally popular for their high load bearing capacity, high impact
strength, high abrasion resistance, high resilience and excellent resistance
to oil and grease.
The applications of polyurethanes include where the actions of sliding,
bearing, stripping, forming, damping, cushioning, resting or rolling are
involved.
For optimum performance, better results and longer life, selection of
appropriate grades is important. These can be formulated with permutation &
combination of selective chemicals & additives.
Cast Polyurethanes have unlimited running applications & a huge
replacement market is waiting to turn on.

Thermoplastic
Urethane (TPU)
Thermoplastic Urethane (TPU) results from copolymerization of two or more
monomers. One monomer is used to provide the hard, crystalline features,
whereas the other monomer produces the soft, amorphous features. Combined
these form a thermoplastic material that exhibits properties similar to the
hard, vulcanized elastomers.
Because of its toughness and versatility, as well as a generally higher
price tag than other TPEs, urethane is typically used for parts requiring a
high level of performance. These applications frequently demand a flexible
material with a high degree of flex resistance, wearability, and durability.
Particularly at lower temperatures, other materials do not provide this
combination of properties.
Properties:
- High flexibility/ elasticity over a broad temperature range down
to -50°C
- High resistant to tearing, tear initiation and tear propagation
with high ultimate elongation
- High abrasion resistant
- Extremely punctureproof and thermoformable
- Microbe & hydrolysis resistant
- High resistance to fuel, oil, grease and solvents
- Good chemical & mechanical resistance
- Good resistance to liquids but still high water permeability
